How To Treat Your Handbags Right
Buying designer handbags is a whole process. First one must catch our eyes. Then there is the rightness of the size, colour, shape that must pass the wearability criteria before we - finally - take the plunge and hit that ‘Buy Now’ button. All our bags should inspire the same thrill as when we first got them. To accomplish this, we must handle handbags with care so that they retain their mint conditions. Here are a few tips to achieve this:
- Get rid of dirt daily
Just, take out all of the contents of the bag and turn it upside down. We tend to put things in our bag without a second thought, accumulating dirt and small pieces of junk. This daily ritual will prevent something that can damage the bag from getting lost amongst your things, and not handled properly, for example, loose blush powders, open pens and melting chocolate.
- Keep it out of the sun to maintain its colour
Leather and other fabrics are very prone to fading if left in the sun. To avoid accelerated fading of leather or the dyes of the bag, simply always store it in a dust bag. If you have a handbag display in your closet, be sure to install curtains that can block out the light.
- Be gentle when cleaning to avoid damaging threads
While some stains might require a little elbow grease especially on materials such as thick leather, which are sturdier, it is very important to consider the thread. Going hard on your handbag is very likely to fray the stitching, rip or tear detail work out of the bag, or damage the lining/biding.
- Avoid cleaning on hard surfaces
Put down a thick towel or cloth on the hard surface on which you are cleaning your bag. This will decrease the risk of the bag having too much pressure applied on it leading it to become misshapen.
- Get your bags professionally cleaned once in a while
Admittedly, not all bag stains should be subjected to DIY cleaning experiments. After spending quite a bit of money on your bag, you should invest some more in its upkeep.
Designer bags have amazing quality, and fashionably durable design so with a little effort they can look chic and new for years. Instead of changing bags every season, invest in timeless classics and take good care of them.
