Creative Ways To Rewear Wedding Outfits!
This one is for all of you social butterflies! A lot may have changed in the social scene over the last year but one thing has stayed consistent as always: Weddings. It is engraved in our desi blood to enjoy the festive season of weddings.
However, post-Covid, times are different, there are limited trips to the market to find the perfect jora. Production is slow, most brands are bringing out the same designs and stocks because Covid has affected business. On the flip-side, not everyone is willing to invest in more clothes and rightfully so considering saving money is a better option for the unforeseen future.
Not to worry, lovelies! We have curated ways to restyle your outfits in a way that will reinvent your look for different events without spending a single dime. Here are five looks covering all the events in a typical desi wedding!
💜 DHOLKI 💜
For the Dholki, we decided to bring out our inner Bollywood diva! You may have a spare saree lying around, be it yours, your moms or grandmothers! Anything will work.
We took inspiration from this gorgeous Generation multi-coloured saree and paired it with this Cos Light Pink Cowl Neck Top. Yes ladies, unconventional is the way to go when you’re being creative.
To add a statement colour, we went with bright purple and stayed in the same colour scheme of shoes, bag and earrings. For the bag, we chose this Jimmy Choo Fuschia Suede Shoulder Bag and these funky River Island Purple Satin 'Proud' Block Heels.
🧡 MAYUN 🧡
When we think Mayun, we think of simplicity in its finest form. Take any kurta you have, preferably in the traditional colour scheme of orange, yellow or pink and pair it with your favorite black/white shalwar.
We liked the cut and look of this Khaadi Chapter 2 Kurta and to give this look a wow factor, we decided to add in this Ted Baker Printed Silk Scarf which you can tie into your hair agiving you a classy and chic look (do check out this look in our latest collaboration).
Finish it off with some cute flats like these Marie Claire Beige Embroidered Criss-Cross Slides and a comfortable yet trendy shoulder bag like this Christian Dior Brown Vintage & Canvas Leather Shoulder Bag to pull the look together.
💚 MEHNDI 💚
Moving onto the dance party aka everyone's favourite event, the Mehndi. These days every girl want to wear a lehenga and you don't want to keep repeating the same one even if you have a few in your closet.
To do something different, we paired this Principles Rust Shimmer Top with a forest green lehenga; it gives a great western fusion to the outfit without taking away the essence of an eastern traditional look!
Furthermore, add on a heavy (and we mean, HEAVY) dupatta. We went with this maroon mirror work dupatta to give the outfit the extra finish of glam. Both dupatta and lehenga can be of your taste since we chose a random selection off of Pinterest! ;)
Add on some glitter heels, make sure not to wear something too high though as you want to catch everyone's but not for the wrong reasons (i.e. having a dramatic fall). To put our look together, we chose these Kate Spade Gold Glitter Peep-toe Heels and accessorized with a teeka and some gorgeous traditional earrings.
❤️ SHAADI ❤️
Now onto the big event, the Shaadi. We took inspiration from Sanjana Batra and decided to recreate this chic look.
You'll need a good, well-fitting blazer like this, Warehouse Black Blazer and your favourite black slacks. To add the desi touch, you need a duppatta like this pretty pink one by Sapphire to drape over your shoulder and cinch in your waist with a belt like this Burberry Camel & Navy Two Toned Belt to pull your outfit together.
If you want to glam it up further, add a pair of statement heels like these glamorous Jimmy Choo Black Suede Crystal Embellished 'Kalpa' Ankle Strap Platform Sandals and a pretty gold clutch like this one by Aldo. Finish off the look with some statement bangles and earrings and you're ready to be the belle of the ball or wedding in this case!
💙 VALIMA 💙
Finally for the Valima, we went all desi with a little twist! You might have some extra outfits lying around that you have worn to death but have you considered mixing and matching?
This Sanya Muneer Emerald Embroidered Jacket Outfit is perfect but if you want to take it up a notch, we recommend switching the original trousers with these River Island Silver Pants.
To make it even fancier, add a little LV touch! Pair this Louis Vuitton Beige Vernis Leather Louise Clutch Bag and Louis Vuittion 'Oh Really' Navy Blue Leather Peep-Toe Platform Pumps together with your favourite accessories and some nude, glossy makeup.
The best thing about restyling your outfits is the way it can be different each time and you can keep adding a personal touch!
Hope you liked our picks, happy shopping! :)
