Bridgerton In Modern Times
Netflix’s number 1 show returns for its second season; and with it came a myriad of iconic, regal dresses that had the internet fawning over every look. Its meticulously crafted wardrobe has received heavy praise since its season debut, especially for portraying historically accurate looks. When it comes to modern times, I have picked outfits that I believe these characters would wear based on their individual colour schemes and personalities. Try and recreate their look!
1. Kate Sharma
The leading lady of the season, Kate is always headstrong and vocal. Throughout the season, she dons the signature blue shades of the Bridgerton’s. Except with much darker shades to signify her rigid beliefs. Kate would look lovely in this Riffat Aliani Green & Gold Embroidered Kameez to reflect the pride she has in her Sub-Continent heritage and family background. Of course, she would match it with a pair of Dune pointed pumps and use a practical Marc Jacobs teal tote bag. She’d finish it off with a Swarovski bracelet as her outfits are always accessorised with ornate jewellery.
2. Edwina Sharma
Edwina’s character is meant to be the perfect debutante, with sharpened skills in every area. It would be no surprise that Edwina would keep up with the latest trends and always carry it with elegance. She would rock this Zara tweed set along with these Jessica Simpson flats which would showcase her signature pastel colour scheme. She’d pair it with this Aldo crossbody bag as her sister Kate would have taught her that mini bags are in fashion. She’d accessorise with a Guess rhinestone watch to keep up the glam. And of course, being the diamond of the season, she must wear a pendant to complete her look.
3. Penelope Featherington
The Featherington family had a much larger role to play this season, with the new Lord’s arrival giving them a new place in society. With it, came a more prominent role for Pen. For viewers of the last season, her importance is not lost, and in modern times I believe she would keep up her wallflower-esque look with this Zara blouse that would make her blend right in. Paired with these Zara pants and Melissa Soho wedge sandals, Pen would have the perfect laid back look to fit with the crowd. She dreams of travelling to find her true self, and what better travelling companion than this Kate Spade tote. To complete her look, she would wear this diary and quill necklace to show off her love for literature and writing.
4. Eloise Bridgerton
Eloise is the rebel of the family and is very vocal about her distaste for society’s expectations of women. The opening scene of the show displayed her sentiments on dresses perfectly, and she hates being fancy. I believe Eloise would never wear anything extremely feminine or girly in modern times and instead wear this Express Denim shirt along with these Citizens of Humanity jeans. She would pioneer the grunge look and continue to showcase her free spirit. I believe she’d wear classic TOMS shoes and a Ted Baker scarf for chilly days. She’d take a DUNE backpack when she’s off gallivanting on her adventures with Pen and this Kate Spade tote when her mother forces her to go to family events. To top it off, she’d wear a threaded bracelet since she’d hate heavy jewellery.
5. Anthony Bridgerton
The leading man of the season and every viewer’s object of desire, Anthony Bridgerton has been plagued with duties and responsibilities since the role of Viscount was thrust upon him. Everything he does is for his family, and keeping up his stylish look to appease the ton is one of them. I believe Anthony would wear a Calvin Klein shirt and Ahmed Bham blazer along with a DKNY silk tie and Kurt Geiger loafers to portray the formal look he always maintains. His charming personality warrants a matching Michael Kors wristwatch while he has to complete his look with a signature silver ring. After all, he is a gentleman.
